The Board of Religions for Peace Europe held its regular online meeting on 26 January 2026, reviewing the organization’s achievements during 2025 and discussing strategic priorities and institutional developments for the year ahead.

The meeting opened with a minute of silence and prayer for peace, as well as in memory of Board member Eva Ruth Palmieri, recognizing her important contribution to interreligious dialogue and women of faith networks.

In his opening remarks, President of Religions for Peace Europe Prof. Genti Kruja highlighted that 2025 was an intensive and meaningful year for the organization, marked by strengthened leadership structures, expanded international cooperation, and strong participation in key interfaith conferences and forums across Europe and beyond.

A key part of the meeting focused on the 2025 Activities Report, presented by Secretary General Dr. Maria Leppäkari, outlining major developments and strengthened cooperation among European interreligious structures.

The Board also reviewed the 2025 Financial Report presented by Treasurer Mr. Patric Wolter, which provided an overview of the organization’s financial situation, administrative transitions, and preparations for the 2026 draft budget, while highlighting the importance of grants, sponsorships, and fundraising opportunities.

Board members further exchanged updates from their respective networks, including institutional developments, strategic partnerships, and public positions addressing current European challenges such as social polarization, antisemitism, Islamophobia, and the protection of freedom of religion or belief.

Another important topic discussed was the application for Participatory Status with the Council of Europe.

The Board also discussed plans for activities throughout 2026, including a Board and structural meetings in Oslo in December 2026, in connection with events surrounding the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

The Board reaffirmed its strong commitment to promoting peace, interreligious dialogue, and social cohesion across Europe.
