Religions for Peace Europe Co-Organises the Intercultural Iftar Dinner 2026 at the European Parliament

On 4 March 2026, the Intercultural Iftar Dinner 2026 was held at the premises of the European Parliament in Brussels. The event was organised by Dialogue Platform in partnership with Religions for Peace Europe and other international partners. The gathering brought together Members of the European Parliament, representatives of European institutions, religious leaders, academics, and civil society representatives to promote intercultural dialogue and shared values.

The Religions for Peace Europe delegation was led by its President, Genti Kruja, who attended the event together with the President of the European Women of Faith Network, Rkia Tiar.

This year’s edition was organised under the theme “Human Rights in Action – Practising our Shared Values for a Peaceful Tomorrow.” The event highlighted the importance of safeguarding human rights, strengthening social cohesion, and encouraging dialogue and cooperation among diverse communities across Europe.

In his welcoming remarks, Prof. Genti Kruja, as a co-partner of the event, emphasised the role of faith communities in advancing peace, dignity, and human rights:

“Faith must be a force for peace and human dignity. Europe’s history reminds us that conflict destroys lives, which is why we must stand firmly against war and violent extremism and promote diplomacy, dialogue, and cooperation. Human rights in action mean defending every person’s right to live free from discrimination, fear, and violence, while speaking out against hatred and encouraging understanding and solidarity. On behalf of Religions for Peace Europe, we reaffirm our commitment to peace over conflict, dialogue over division, and dignity for all.”

The Intercultural Iftar Dinner continues to serve as an important platform for fostering interreligious dialogue, mutual respect, and cooperation, reaffirming the shared commitment of partners and institutions to building a more peaceful and inclusive Europe.
