The Board of European National Interreligious Bodies in Religions for Peace Europe, convened in its first meeting of 2026 on 27 February 2026, unanimously appointed Omer Faruk Karacan as the New Secretary of ENIB.
He is also one of the newly appointed Board members, representing the National Body of Greece (Gefyres Irinis), where he serves as Secretary General.
Omer Faruk Karacan is an experienced education and NGO professional with over 12 years of experience. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Language Teaching and a Master’s degree in European Studies from the University of Latvia, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Political Science.
Throughout his career, he has served as a university lecturer, project coordinator, and translator, and has held leadership roles as director and board chair in a prominent non-governmental organization. Between 2021 and 2025, he served as Director General of an international school.
His appointment is expected to further strengthen interreligious cooperation and support the development of ENIB’s activities across Europe.
