On 27 February 2026, the European National Interreligious Bodies (ENIB) held its regular online meeting under the framework of Religions for Peace Europe. The meeting brought together representatives of national interreligious bodies to discuss key issues related to cooperation, coordination, and the further development of the network at the European level.
The meeting opened with a moment of silence and continued with the approval of the minutes of the previous meeting, followed by the welcoming of new ENIB members. A key highlight of the meeting was the election of the new ENIB Secretary. Omer Faruk Karacan was appointed to this role, succeeding Cinde Lee following her resignation.
On this occasion, the President of ENIB, Prof. Genti Kruja, expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the former Secretary, Cinde Lee, for her dedicated service and valuable contributions over the past two years.
During the meeting, representatives shared the main activities of their national bodies for 2025 and discussed the creation of an ENIB e-newsletter, which will serve as a platform to present national bodies and their key initiatives. Organizational matters were also addressed, including the planning of an in-person meeting and Interfaith Forum in Norway in December.
A significant part of the discussion focused on strengthening joint interfaith initiatives in Europe, including the development of partnerships with institutions at the Council of Europe.
The meeting once again reaffirmed ENIB’s and Religions for Peace Europe’s commitment to strengthening interreligious dialogue, institutional cooperation, and the presence of interfaith voices in European processes.
