Potsdam, Germany – July 16, 2025

We, the Presidency Board of Religions for Peace Europe, gathered at the University of Potsdam on 15–16 July 2025, solemnly reaffirm our collective commitment to peacebuilding, interreligious dialogue, and sustainable cooperation among religious communities across Europe and beyond.

Over the course of our two-day meeting, we engaged in deep reflection and strategic planning, with particular focus on empowering youth and women in peace efforts, strengthening interfaith dialogue, and reinforcing collaboration across our European structures – including the European National Interreligious Bodies, the European Council of Religious Leaders, the European Women of Faith Network, and the European Interfaith Youth Network.

In this critical moment for humanity, we cannot remain silent in the face of the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. We express our deep alarm at the tragic loss of innocent civilian lives, particularly among children and women.

We urgently call upon the international community and religious leaders around the world to act immediately to end the violence, ensure unimpeded humanitarian access, and protect human dignity. Religions for Peace Europe calls for an immediate ceasefire and a return to peace through dialogue, justice, and respect for human rights.

This year marks a meaningful milestone – the 55th anniversary of Religions for Peace. This jubilee reminds us of our rich legacy of committed interreligious action for peace, and it strengthens our resolve to move forward with even greater unity and purpose.

We, the members of the Presidency Board of Religions for Peace Europe, reaffirm our dedication to a united Europe built through dialogue, inclusion, and shared responsibility for the common good.

Thank you!
