BUCHAREST, Romania, 27 April 2026 – The international academic debate “Coexistence and Identity Conflict in Southeastern Europe” brought together scholars, experts, and representatives from several Southeast European countries to discuss the challenges and opportunities related to identity, coexistence, intercultural dialogue, and peaceful living in the region.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Genti Kruja, President of Religions for Peace Europe, participated as an invited speaker and delivered a presentation titled “Building Peace Through Faith: The Experience of Interfaith Harmony”. In his remarks, he stressed the importance of strengthening interreligious dialogue, education, and youth engagement as essential tools for preventing polarization and fostering peaceful societies across Europe.
The debate was jointly organized by RIQL, SDR Center – Society, Law, Religion (Bucharest), the PRIZMI Institute for Dialogue, Bedër University College (Albania), and the Association for Dialogue and Universal Values (Romania), reflecting a strong regional commitment to academic exchange and dialogue.
Prof. Kruja, together with the international delegation participating in the scientific panel, was also received at the Parliament by Member of Parliament Mr. Iulius Marian Fircz, where discussions focused on democracy and freedom of religion during the transition from the communist system to the liberal democratic order over the past decades in Romania and Southeastern Europe.
Religions for Peace Europe continues to promote cooperation among religious communities, peacebuilding initiatives, establishing new chapters as a national body and inclusive dialogue across Europe and beyond.
