Religion for Peace Europe Board Holds Meeting, Elects New Leadership
On January 7th, 2025, the Board of Religion for Peace (RfP) Europe convened an online meeting, marking a significant moment in the organization’s efforts to foster peace and dialogue across the continent. The meeting brought together members representing four key co-committees: the European National Interreligious Bodies (ENIB), European Council of Religious Leaders (ECRL), European Women of Faith Network (EWFN), and the European Interfaith Youth Network (EIYN).
New Leadership Elected
The meeting began with a report from Dr. Luigi de Salvia, Acting President of RfP Europe. Following the presentation, and in line with Article 7.1.3 of the Standing Rules of Religions for Peace Europe, the Board conducted elections for the new President of RfP Europe. Prof. Genti Kruja, the President of ENIB, was unanimously elected as the new President. The role of President rotates every 18 months among the leaders of the four co-committees.
Additionally, Dr. Luigi de Salvia was elected as the new President of the General Assembly of Religions for Peace Europe, following the provisions of Articles 3 and 4 of the Standing Rules.
Key Reports and Future Appointments
Under the leadership of the newly elected President Prof. Kruja, the Board reviewed reports from the four co-committees for the year 2024. The Board also called for nominations for new appointments, including the Secretary General and Treasurer of RfP Europe.
Focus on Cooperation and Peace
The meeting also featured discussions on several key topics, with a particular emphasis on strengthening inter-institutional cooperation. Board members stressed the importance of collective efforts to promote peace and interfaith dialogue across Europe.
